February 22 Sheet

Seton Hall at West Virginia (-2) - Game 719-720 - 9:00am Pacific
The Mountaineers have been a live side all season long and are always a tough out at home. First year head coach John Beilein has done an incredible job here and his coaching prowess is further demonstrated by Richmond's struggles this year without him. West Virginia (4-7) comes into this game 2.5 games behind Seton Hall (6-4) in the Big East standings but they have played four ranked teams and 7 road games compared to SHU's three ranked opponents and just 4 road games.

West Virginia has gotten outstanding play out of sophomore guard Drew Schifino (20.9ppg) all season long. He has scored in double figures in every game this season. 6-10 freshman forward Kevin Pittsnogle (52% 3-point shooter, 1.3bpg, 2nd on team in scoring at 12.1ppg) has been great in home games (17ppg last 9 home games). German import Johannes Herber at 6-6 can do a little bit of everything. He handles the ball well, passes (4.0apg), rebounds (3.9rpg), and scores (6.7ppg). He has been an important part of the teams motion offense and overall success. Point guard Jarmon Durisseau-Collins (2.5:1 turnover assist ratio) continues to be solid. Forwards Tyrone Sally & Chaz Briggs do the dirty work inside.

Seton Hall comes in hot off a 5 game win streak. They had their last game postponed due to snow which was probably the last thing they wanted and now have not played in a week. This will be their first road game since January 29th controversial (SHU had 6 players on floor during critical juncture) overtime win at Georgetown. That was their first and only win away from home in seven tries this season. Last season Seton Hall won by just 6 here against a WVU squad that finished 1-15 in Big East play and played most of the game without last years leading scorer Chris Moss (collision, left game early).

The Pirates prefer an uptempo game (averaged 74.3ppg in 6 Big East wins), but they only managed 65ppg in 3 Big East road losses and they are facing a WVU team who only allowed 56 to high scoring Notre Dame in last game. Seton Hall can get sloppy in a hurry. Leading scorers Barrett & Allen average 3.4 turnovers per game each. West Virginia is by far the smarter team and has a far superior head coach. The Mountaineers are 8-3 at home this season and all three losses have been to ranked teams including 1 point heartbreaker to Notre Dame. Playing at home they will prove to be the better team today.
