Michigan State at
Michigan (-2) - 4:00pm Pacific
The Wolverines are coming off a big win over Wisconsin on
Sunday. They currently have an RPI ranking of 50 and another
quality win here will be a huge step towards their NCAA
tournament hopes. The big news in the offseason for Michigan
basketball was the removal of their postseason ban for this
season. They did not have a chance to get in the dance last
year, but got a huge emotional lift prior to the season with
the lift of this years ban. At that time I do not think
anyone close to this program felt they would not qualify.
They got the hard one out of the way beating Wisconsin handily
on Sunday and now just have to take care of business vs a
Michigan State team that is no better if equal to the Badgers.
The Spartans are just 3-3 in Big 10 road games with all three
wins coming vs teams with losing overall records (Ohio State,
Northwestern, Minnesota by 1 in OT). Michigan State has not
exactly turned heads with their recent play depsite winning 3
in a row. All three games were at home and they failed to
cover two of three with the only cover coming by 1/2 point vs
Purdue. Michigan State is 3-6 ATS in road games, 1-5 ATS as a
dog, and 1-4 ATS as a road dog this season.
Michigan continues their long homestand and will be riding
momentum of Sunday's win. This is just the second sellout of
the season at Crisler Arena. Michigan will be looking to
avenge earlier 17 point loss at East Lansing in which they did
not play well following painful 2 point home loss to Indiana.
Wolverines need this one and get it.
