Delaware vs UNC-Wilmington (-3) - 4:00pm - Game #637-638
The Seahawks are back after missing the CAA semifinals for the first time in 13 seasons a season ago. Star guard T.J. Carter sat out all last year with injury but returned to earn all conference honors while leading the team to a #2 seed. Four senior starters are joined by all freshman team PG Tomko to form what multiple league coaches have called the leagues best starting five. UNCW's fortunes turned once Carter shook off rust and Tomko became comfortable in his leading role. They won 10 of their last 13 conference games with one loss coming at #1 seed VCU and two others by a combined 3 points in road games. With the help of two midseason transfers Delaware has fielded a competitive team for the first time since joining the CAA, but after a 5-0 start they are just 4-9 in last 13 conference games as teams have started to figure them out. The Blue Hens were unfortunate to have to play heated rival Drexel in a physical game last night that was not decided until a game tying shot was blocked in the last minute. In their lone regular season meeting UNCW led by 9 with 3:22 left before a combination of missed FT's and poor luck allowed Delaware to hit a game winning 3 at the buzzer. That game was was in Delaware but today Wilmington will take advantage of always having one of the largest contingencies in Richmond Coliseum. Expect the better and more seasoned team to advance here. Give the points.
