New Mexico State at Boise State (-4.5) - 6:00pm Pacific - Game #729-730
Boise has all the looks of the WAC's top team. They have the best overall record, the best conference record, and had the biggest non-conference win of any WAC team by knocking off BYU. The Broncos also came close to upsetting highly ranked Washington State. They have won 10 of 11 games with only loss being a fluke vs LMU. They have started the same lineup all season and have been extremely efficient on offense hitting over 52% of their field goal attempts. New Mexico State has taken advantage of a favorable schedule to start 2-0 in WAC play but were almost upset at Idaho and are just 1-7 in games away from home. Suspensions, arrests, and eligibility issues have plagued the team all season. Their starting center and a rotation guard are already gone for the year and two other rotation players may be facing discipline today for arrests earlier in the year. Boise State should have little trouble extending their win streak tonight. Give the points. Play: Boise State -4.5 1.0 UNIT | LOSS 73-76 Louisiana Tech at Idaho (-7) - 7:00pm Pacific - Game #745-746 Seven newcomers needed an adjustment period but Idaho has been playing much better in recent games. They were competitive at Arizona State, trailed New Mexico State by 3 with possession late, and led Boise State by 2 in the second half of last game before faltering. JC transfers PG Brooks has played well all year and sharpshooter Walker has stepped up to average 16.5ppg in last four. Today they take a big drop in class as they host the WAC's worst team in Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs are 3-10 with two wins coming vs Alcorn St and McNeese St. They have five road losses by an average margin of 27.2 points and were not competitive in their first conference home game vs an average Fresno State team. This is a must win game for Idaho as it is their last conference home game before hitting the road. Head coach Pfiefer referred to this game as their "Super Bowl", and it is also their first home game since students have returned to campus. Expect a double digit win. Give the points. Play: Idaho -7 1.0 UNIT | PUSH 85-78 Montana at Northern Arizona (-4) - 5:30pm Pacific - Game #769-770 The Lumberjacks remain one of the surprise teams in the Big Sky and are still undervalued by oddsmakers. They are 2-1 in conference play and now return home where they are always very tough to beat due to travel difficulty and 7,000 ft elevation. Montana is just 1-6 in road games with lone win coming at South Dakota State early in the season. They opened conference play with a disappointing 16 point loss at Montana State on Saturday. The Grizzlies usually have a size advantage inside vs Big Sky opponents but that is not the case vs NAU who features two quality and experienced big men in Kyle Landry and Ryan McCurdy who can match up well. In the backcourt Montana is still not getting consistent guard play, as evidenced by their road struggles, and NAU will have an advantage with conference leading assist man Josh Wilson. This line should be higher. Take the home favorite. Play: Northern Arizona -4 0.5 UNIT | WIN 72-64 Eastern Washington at Idaho State (-1) - 6:00pm Pacific - Game #775-776 Idaho State turned around what seemed to be a bleak season by opening conference play with an impressive double digit road win at Northern Colorado. Making it more impressive is that Northern Colorado beat Weber State and won at San Diego State in their next two games. The Bengals have been criticized for poor play at home, going 2-6 vs D-1 opponents dating back to last season so there is extra pressure on them to perform well tonight. To their credit their D-1 home schedule this year consisted of Boise St and Wash St. Eastern Washington has had several home games in a row and were able to sneak up on a couple of decent teams but now they play their first road game in over a month against a team who will have them well scouted. EWU has been playing an undersized lineup with four guards and firing up lots of 3-pointers which is not conducive to success on the road. Expect a well prepared and focused Idaho State team to take care of business at home here. Play: Idaho State -1 0.5 UNIT | WIN 58-56 Return to Record Page |
