Texas vs USC (+2.5) - 2:15pm Pacific - Game #529-530
Trojan starting point guard Gabe Pruitt became eligible Dec 22. His first game back was horrible but since then USC is 15-7-1 ATS and in that span of 23 games they have only had four bad outings. I was a little concerned how USC would come out in their first NCAA tournament experience but they looked very comfortable in picking apart Arkansas for a very impressive win on Friday. The Trojans seem to be right at home playing in the Pacific Northwest (home state of senior guard Stewart) and are playing with a lot of emotion as their season has been dedicated to the late former point guard Ryan Francis who would have celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday. USC is very well coached and sound defensively. They have enough frontcourt depth to keep Texas star Durant from dominating. Texas did not look particularly good on Friday as they had trouble putting away a New Mexico State team that really did not belong in the NCAA's. They did not seem to play with the "edge" that they have shown in their good performances. The Longhorns had a very taxing Big 12 tourney, losing the final in OT last Sunday, and will be playing their 5th game in 10 days today. This is a tough for a team that badly lacks quality depth and starts four freshman. USC wants this more and is in a good spot to pull off a mild upset and advance to the Sweet 16. Take the points.
