Vanderbilt vs Washington State (Over 127.5) - 2:40pm Pacific - Game #731-732
The Commodores did everything they could to push their opening round game over the total but got no help from George Washington who shot a pathetic 13-for-48 (27%) from the field and scored their lowest total of the season. Vandy meanwhile scored 60 points in 28 minutes before just going through the motions in the latter stages of the game. For the season Vandy games are still averaging over 144 points a game (not including OT) and only one of their 32 games this season has finished with less than 132 points, an early season game vs slow tempo Lipscomb. Not a single Vandy game total has closed below 135 this season. Washington State is not nearly as slow as they were last season. Their games are averaging 122.4ppg (not including OT) which is up 6.5 points from last year despite the Pac-10 being a more defensive oriented conference this year. The Cougars last four outings have averaged 130.25 (not including OT). Their first round game with a much less potent Oral Roberts team landed at 124 despite WSU's top two scorers missing significant time in the first half due to foul trouble and only 3 points were scored in the final 1:43 of the game. In contrast there figures to be multiple end of game foul shots in this even matchup. Vanderbilt's offense is clicking on all cylinders right now and they will find ways to ensure this game is played at a decent tempo. Expect this to surpass 130. Play the over.
