Washington State (+2) at Arizona State - 5:00pm Pacific - Game #601-602
The Cougars have a lot of positives going for them heading in to this game. The biggest one is that this will be the final regular season game for head coach Dick Bennett. The much loved and respected Bennett announced his plans for retirement last week. Washington State point guard Derrick Low led the team in scoring and assists before missing 8 games with injury. He has played in the last seven games and is getting closer to 100% every time out. Perhaps the teams best all around player, Kyle Weaver, was injured vs Cal three games ago and missed the Stanford game two games back, but returned to play 24 minutes vs Arizona on Thursday. Despite this, WSU took all three of those quality opponents down to the wire, losing to Cal & Stanford by only 2, and at red hot Arizona by just 5. This team is playing well right now.
Arizona State is the worst team in the Pac-10 and Rob Evans is an obvious lame duck head coach. The Sun Devils did not put up much of a fight in back to back blowout losses to Arizona and Washington in two most recent outings. ASU features only one active senior so senior day does not have much significance here and crowds have been lacking all season. Washington State won by 15 in the first meeting of the season and I am very confident that they will give their all to send coach Bennett out a winner. Consider playing this one on the money line at +115/+120 as of this writing.
