San Francisco at LMU (Over 138) - 7:00pm Pacific - Game #529-530
First year head coach Rodney Tention promised to bring an uptempo brand of basketball to LMU this year. The team may finally be getting used to the new system. Not counting points scored in overtime, LMU games are averaging 145.3 for the season, but since returning from the Rainbow Classic in Hawaii, the last three LMU games have averaged 153.66, including a game total of 170 last time out vs San Diego. In that game coach Tention could be seen repeatedly waving his arm in a circular motion to get his team to push the ball. They regularly took the first decent shot they had and the shot clock was a non-factor most of the game. Meanwhile, the Lions have not played much defense. They are giving up 82.3ppg in their last three games. All three opponents shot over 50% from the field and combined averaged to shoot 47% from 3-point range. Ouch. San Francisco games are averaging 137.2ppg for the season not counting any overtime scoring. It will not take much speeding up from LMU to get this game over the total. The Dons consider themselves an uptempo team and routinely will press or halfcourt trap. They do not mind a fast paced game at all. This line is about 7-10 points off. I expect this to land close to if not over 150. Take the over.
