Wyoming at Denver (Under 131) - 6:00pm Pacific - Game #741-742
If you take away the points scored in three overtime periods, Denver's games are averaging a total of just 125.29 this season. The Pioneers feature one of the better unheralded big men in the country in Yemi Nicholson. He averages a team high 17.8ppg and he is the focal point of their offense. He shoots .588 from the field on the season but in Denver's two games vs teams with a comparable sized frontline, Colorado State and Stanford, Nicholson shot a combined 11-for-27 (.407). In those two games Denver struggled offensively and averaged just 53.5 points. The average game total in the two games was 120.5. Wyoming is certainly a team that is solid defensively down low. 6-10 F/C Justin Williams leads the nation with 6.1 blocks per game and bulkier 6-9 F/C Derek Wabbington is just starting to return to form after missing six games with a knee injury. Offensively, Wyoming has been inconsistent at best. They are starting two first year players in the backcourt and rank second to last in the MWC in field goal shooting. They have struggled even more in their two road games averaging just 48.5ppg. Meanwhile they rank #1 in the MWC in FG% defense. Wyoming is coming off a 58-48 win over Weber State and 10 of the 106 total points were scored in the final 95 seconds. Defense is the strength of both teams and this should be a low scoring affair.

UCSB at UC Riverside (Over 139) - 7:00pm Pacific - Game #749-750
I'm ready to get back on the UCR over train. They have been much more competitive in recent games losing by just 6.75ppg in last four outings after losing their first six by an average of 23.5. Closer game usually mean more free throws at the end. UCR had a very low scoring game at Santa Clara two games back (124 total points scored) that may have driven this total down some, but Santa Clara was very shorthanded for that game and played at a very deliberate pace. UCR came right back the next day and posted a 149 game total vs Boston U despite a back to back situation. Highlander games are averaging a game total of 146 overall for the season and 148.6 in three home games. Neither stat takes into account their 226 point game total vs Division I-AAA opponent Puget Sound three games back. UCSB games already average 134.7ppg overall and 138.2ppg in five road games on the season so it will not take much speeding up from UCR to get over this total. UCSB has struggled at times in their half-court offense so they often push the ball in search of transition baskets. They should have many opportunities against the UCR press. The Gauchos will be playing their first game all season at full strength as forward Derek Rasp (academics, out 1st semester) rejoined the team three games ago and starting G/F Josh Davis is expected to return from an ankle injury that has caused him to miss last three games. They will have plenty of depth to play at faster than normal pace. Take the over.
