November 22 Sheet

Stanford at Cal (-10.5) - 12:30pm Pacific
Early in the season, Cal fans did not care much how the Bears did this year, just as long as they beat Stanford. They got much more than they bargained for, as the Bears at 6-5 have an opportunity with a win here for their first winning season since 1993. The Cardinal have won 7 straight meetings in the "Big Game". We mentioned a few weeks ago that Cal has 15 seniors in its starting line up. Well, guess what, none of them have ever beaten Stanford. Not even the fifth year seniors. Cal fans, players, and alumni want this win very badly.

Bears are coming off a home loss to Arizona that was a crazy game. The Wildcats were playing lights out due to situation surrounding head coach Mackovic and scored TD's off an interception runback and blocked punt. Cal did extend their streak to 11 games that they have scored first in. Two days after the game it was announced that Cal's appeal to have the postseason ban removed was denied. Now the team has focused 100% on beating Stanford as it will be their last game of the season and last career game for many. They have already been pointing to this game for a while to begin with.

Stanford comes into the game at 2-8, 1-6 in Pac-10 play. They have had an awful season. QB Chris Lewis has missed the last 5 games and was downgraded to doubtful for this game earlier in the week. Stanford's 6 losses in Pac-10 play have come by an average of 24.1 points. Meanwhile, Cal's 6 wins this year have come by an average of 20.3 points. Look for Cal to jump out to an early lead like they have all season and put away a bad Stanford team lacking confidence and waiting for the season to end. Bears will not take any chances here. There is very little question who will win this game. All indications are that the pointspread will not come into play. Give the points.
