Northwestern - Starting RB Terrell Jordan (hamstring) will miss at least the next month. Starting LB Tim McGarigle (calf) has been slowed by injury and is questionable Saturday. McGarigle led the NCAA in tackles last year. Northwestern's second leading returning tackler LB Nick Roach has been slowed by a hernia but is expected to play. Reserve WR Brandon Horn (24 catches last year) has been suspended for the season.
Virginia - Starting LB Ahmad Brooks (knee) will miss opener vs Western Michigan. Brooks led the team in tackles last year and was a 2nd team All-American.
Western Michigan - Projected starting DT Joe Alvarez (foot) is out 4-6 weeks.
Ball State - Starting RG Mike Brown (shoulder) is out Saturday vs Iowa. An unknown number players may be ineligible to compete in Saturday's game vs Iowa due to NCAA violations in May that affected 25 student athletes. It is unknown how many football players were involved.
Iowa - Starting senior CB Antwan Allen has been suspended for Saturday's game vs Ball State.
Michigan State - Starting CB Jaren Hayes (suspension) will not play Saturday. Starting WR Agim Shabaj (academics) was declared ineligible in June. WR Aaron Alexander (foot) is out 6-8 weeks.
Ohio State - Starting QB Troy Smith (suspension) is out vs Miami Ohio on Saturday.
Michigan - Starting RT Jake Long (ankle) is expected to miss at least a month. Long earned 2nd team Big10 honors last year as a redshirt freshman.
Penn State - Starting WR Mark Rubin (ankle) is expected to miss season. Rubin was one of the teams leading returning receivers. Starting LB Dan Connor (suspension) is out indefinitely. Connor was second on the team in tackles last year.
South Florida - Starting FS Danny Verpaele (foot) is expected to miss Saturday vs Penn State.
Colorado State - Starting free safety Ben Stratton (knee) was injured in practice and is expected to miss the season. Stratton, a senior captain, was the teams leading returning tackler.
Colorado - Projected starting CB Terrence Wheatley (wrist) is out for the season.
Wyoming - Starting MLB John Prater (back) is expected to miss the entire season. RB's Joe Harris (knee) and Ivan Harrison (knee) will not play vs Florida. Starting WR Josh Barge (ankle) is doubtful.
Washington - QB Isaiah Stanback won the starting job in part by default. QB Johnny DuRocher has been declared ineligible for the first 3 games, and QB Carl Bonnell (leg) is listed as doubtful Saturday vs Air Force.
UCLA - Starting DT Kevin Brown (ankle) is expected to miss a month.
San Diego State - Starting FS Marcus Demps (hamstring) is expected to miss vs UCLA.
Memphis - Projected starting WR Mario Pratcher (knee) will miss the season
Florida State - All American CB Antonio Cromartie (knee) was lost for the season before fall camp opened.
