November 25 - Week 14
Arizona (-1.5) at Arizona State
- 10:00am Pacific Saturday
With all of the talent the Wildcats possess, its hard to
believe that with a loss here they would be out of a bowl
game. Arizona's "double eagle flex defense" has not
faired well for almost the entire season. Coaches come from
all over the country to study the highly thought of complex
defensive scheme. Maybe after another BYE week the coaching
staff can get the players to finally execute it correctly.
Even if they do not get a good performance from the senior
dominated defense playing in their final regular season game,
the Arizona offense can outscore any opponent. The Wildcats
have as much skill position talent as anyone in the country.
We look for another great game from outstanding WR Dennis
Northcut who will benefit from an extra week of rest. Arizona
State has a few bright spots, but just do not have the overall
talent to match up with Arizona. The Sun Devils have been hurt
by injuries and are nowhere near what they started the season
with. Arizona is a senior dominated team and would very much
like to end their year with a bowl game in Hawaii which is
what they will probably get with a win here. Head coach Dick
Tomey is reportedly in the hot seat and better win this to
keep his job and get a much needed extra month of practice to
get ready for the 2000 season. Tomey is 13-4 ATS after a BYE
week and the visitor in this series has covered 7 straight
times. Wildcats will give their frustrated fans a big win. Arizona

Mississippi at Mississippi State (Over 36) -
5:00pm Pacific Thursday
Our first over/under play of the season. Eight out of ten of
Mississippi's games have gone over 36 points. They have an
outstanding offensive line and running game. It has been said
that the way to beat Mississippi State's top ranked defense is
to run right at them and Ole Miss will be able to test that
theory today. QB Romaro Miller will play despite a sprained
ankle. When the Rebels are not running, you can expect to see
Miller in the shotgun a little more than usual to give him
some added protection. Do not forget that Ole Miss head coach
David Cutcliffe was a former offensive coordinator at
Tennessee and will find ways to score points. Miss State's
offense has been struggling of late but has some potential.
They actually did better than looked last week but were
hampered by 116 penalty yards. Their wide receivers are
capable. They are due to put some points on the board and will
be fired up against their instate rival. Mississippi State is
a little banged up on defense. FS Pig Prather is very
questionable, DE Menafee & CB Smoot suffered ankle
injuries in their game 4 days ago. MSU did not return home
from Arkansas until 3:00am Sunday morning, which basically
gives them only three days to prepare for this game. The short
preparation time for both teams should be advantageous for the
offenses. One or two big plays are in store and should put
this game over the total without much trouble. Over 36
