November 12 - Week 12

Indiana at Minnesota (-14) - 9:00am Pacific
Could not be any more impressed with the season the Golden Gophers are putting together. They have not played a single bad game yet. Their three losses have been by a combined total of 11 points and all were vs ranked teams at the time. They have blown out the teams they were supposed to and last week knocked off #2 Penn State on the road. QB Cockerham and RB Hamner have been a difficult tandem for anyone to stop. They had the nations best defense on their heels last week which says alot. The Gophers defense has been a strength all season. They have given up more than 20 points only twice all season (Purdue & Penn St). Young defensive coordinator David Gibbs has done a tremendous job along with head coach Glen Mason since their arrival here 3 years ago. Indiana is only fooling themselves if they think they can win their final two games and become bowl eligible. It will not happen. The Hoosiers defense is downright horrible. They were bad to begin with, and lost by far their best defensive player DE Ogunleye (1st team Big 10) last month. Taking away Ball State and Northwestern, Indiana has given up 41 points per game! Including 31 points to Iowa! This will be a showcase game for the Gophers in their final home game of the season. A big win this week and another big win next week at Iowa and Minnesota will find themselves in a major bowl game. Their first bowl game since 1986! Minnesota is 21-10 ATS overall under Mason and 6-3 ATS as a home favorite. Gophers roll. Minnesota  1 UNIT

Stanford (+3) at Arizona State - 3:30pm Pacific
Both teams need this win to become bowl eligible and to keep their slim Rose Bowl chances alive. We think Stanford deserves the billing as the Pac-10's best team this year. Last year the Cardinals should have beat Arizona State as a +15.5 point underdog in Tempe but ended up losing in overtime. This year Stanford is a much improved team in every aspect of the game. The offense has been virtually unstoppable. Senior QB Todd Husak is solid, his receiving corps may be the best in the nation, the offensive line is experienced, and freshman RB Kerry Carter has provided a spark to the ground game. The Stanford defense does not have very good numbers but they have found ways to stop teams at the right times. This team simply gets wins. They would be a perfect 6-0 in the Pac-10 if not for an unfortunate loss at Washington two weeks ago. A big key here is the way the two teams are coming into this game. Arizona State will be playing its 9th consecutive game without a BYE week. The SunDevils star JR Redmond suffered 3 thigh bruises last week vs USC but will play. ASU is hurting badly at wide receiver and in their secondary. Redmond actually was forced to start at safety last week! A banged up secondary is the last thing you want when going up against Stanford. On the other hand the Cardinals are coming off a BYE week and have had two weeks to prepare for this. Stanford is completely healthy and have had great recent success following a BYE week under coach Willingham. They beat Oregon State straight up off a BYE week earlier this year and last year should have beaten UCLA straight up as a +28.5 point underdog following a BYE week. Stanford already owns road wins at Arizona and at USC. We think Stanford is the better team here and are much better prepared. Cardinals win straight up. Stanford  1 UNIT
