One NIT play Tuesday:
Cal-State Fullerton at Georgetown (-8.5) - 4:00pm Pacific - Game #617-618
The cards just were not dealt fairly in this matchup. Georgetown is coming off an easy 64-34 win over Boston University and will only be playing their second game in seven days, both being at home. Fullerton meanwhile will be playing their third game in the same time span, with all three being on the road. The trip has taken them to 7 different airports and kept them away from home 7 of the last 8 days. If that was not bad enough, leading scorer & rebounder Ralphy Holmes (knee) and backup guard John Clemmons (foot) are out for the remainder of the season due to recent injuries. Holmes, arguably the heart and soul of the team, is a difficult loss to overcome. CSUF is now down to 8 players, only 7 of which have played any meaningful minutes lately. Due to a previously booked Circus at the MCI Center, this game will be held on-campus at the more intimate McDonough Arena and a sellout is anticipated. Fullerton has had success in first two rounds of NIT against teams who let them play uptempo. Georgetown only allows 61ppg and will dictate a much slower pace tonight. Look for the Hoyas to eventually pull away for a double digit win over a shorthanded and weary Fullerton team. Give the points.
