Utah State at UC Irvine (OVER 135) - 7:00pm Pacific - Game #551-552
At the start of the season, it was well documented that UCI intended to play at a faster pace than they have in recent years. Then head coach Pat Douglass began to second guess himself and had his team slow things down a bit. The team started 6-2 but then suddenly lost four straight games. They hit rock bottom with a double digit loss at UC Riverside who was playing without starting center Morton for the first time. The players canceled practice the following day and held a meeting amongst themselves and then with coaches. Both parties agreed to go back to the faster pace style of play. They promptly responded with a big win at Fullerton scoring a season high 97 points. They followed that with a win over Long Beach State, scoring 78 points against a very slow paced team. Utah State has been playing at a faster pace themselves this year. The Aggies are averaging 72.6ppg for the season and have averaged 77.3ppg in their last 8 outings. Defensively they are only giving up 59.6ppg for the season but in conference play that number rises to 65.5ppg. This line is about 5-6 points off as the game should at least find its way into the 140's.
